Kicking the Bucket Festival 2023 has officially kicked off! Last night, Helen Pakeman’s sensitive and exquisitely crafted exhibition “How Do You Feel Today?” previewed at the Old Fire Station, Oxford. Consisting of an installation of 9 individual pieces displayed on simple white tables, this small artwork has the capacity to both inspire and provoke a response. And importantly, through engagement with the work, conversations around death, dying and grief seemed to arise spontaneously in the viewers. One said, "This lovely exhibition captures complex and sometimes misunderstood emotions around death, in a beautiful and relatable way."
